Belleville East Basketball Cheerleaders 
Rules, Policies and Procedures 
1. CONDUCT AND ATTITUDE 
As a member of this team your attitude and conduct reflects not only on the 
team, but the school as well. You are a role model and a peer leader at 
Belleville East. 
. Follow the rules of the District #201 Athletic Code 
. Be respectful of faculty and staff at all times. 
. Bullying through any means will NOT be tolerated. Any negative 
comments on facebook, twitter, instagram or any means will result in 
immediate consequences and possible removal from the squad!!! 
2. SCHOOL AND GRADES 
. Must maintain a C average. Belleville East cheer will not tolerate any 
grades lower than a C. Every D an athlete has, they will have 2 gym floor 
length suicides per practice until the grade is brought up. Any Fs will result 
in 3 suicides with the athlete being unable to cheer games, events, etc. until 
the grade it brought up. 
. No tardies to class. We will check tardies each Friday. If you accumulate 
tardies for that week, you will have individual conditioning for a week. 
. Any more than 1 in school detention for any reason will not be tolerated 
and will result sitting 2 home games. Any of out school suspension results 
in removal from the team immediately. 
3. PRACTICE EXPECTATIONS 
. Be ON TIME and donÕt leave early. For every minute you are late, you 
will run for that long. 
. Be in appropriate practice clothing. You will be assigned specific practice 
clothes for each day. Failure to wear the appropriate attire will result in 
conditioning. 
. Jewelry must be out before stepping onto the mat and hair pulled back. 
. No outside shoes on cheer mats. In order to keep our mats in great 
condition, we all need to do our part to keep them clean. 
. Be respectful when coaches are speaking. 
. Give 100% effort at all times.

. Be a positive influence at practice- NO GOSSIPING. Encourage your 
teammates to do their best, and be a good role model at practice. 
. Community fundraisers are required functions, the same as practices. 
. NO PHONES AT PRACTICE. If parents need to contact the girls, you can 
call/text Coach Cook or Coach Spillan. 
. Pride practices count the same as regular practices. You must attend. 
*Though tumbling is not a required skill to have for JV, you must attend 
pride and participate with the team . 
4. GAME EXPECTATIONS 
YOU MUST BE AT THE PRACTICE PRECEDING THE GAME OR YOU 
WILL SIT OUT THAT GAME regardless if it is an unexcused or excused 
absence. (This is to ensure all cheers are set and for the safety of the girls stunting 
and tumbling.) 
. Be on time: Home games- be in the annex 1 hour before game. Away 
games- bus will leave on time. If you miss the bus you MAY NOT drive 
yourself to the game, but must be driven by a parent. If you do not come 
to the game, you will sit the next game. 
. EVERYONE MUST RIDE THE BUS HOME FROM AWAY GAMES. 
. The correct uniform, bodysuit, briefs, bows and shoes must be worn. If 
you forget something or bring the wrong uniform, you will sit. 
. Warm-ups are to be worn to games and on the bus with TENNIS 
SHOES. Cheer shoes should only be worn in the gym, not in 
hallways, outside, or on the bus. 
. Hair must be up and jewelry removed before entering the gym or leaving 
the bus. 
. No changing, prepping hair, using lotion, etc. on the sidelines. 
. GUM IS NEVER ALLOWED (that goes for practices as well)

5. PRACTICE/GAME/COMPETITION CALENDAR 
You cannot miss a scheduled calendar practice or game without an approved 
excuse. For the absence to be excused the coach needs to be notified well in 
advance in person or via email. No texts. 
A. Excused absences: 
. Illness/Injury (a Dr.Õs note should follow) 
. Funeral or death in immediate family 
. Wedding in the immediate family 
. Special school function (excused on a case by case basis) 
. Special family circumstances (excused on a case by case basis) 
. Bring a teacherÕs note if you will be late due to class. 
. Cheerleaders will receive ONE excused absence from practice for a 
DR. appt. Please try to schedule appointments around the practice 
schedule. 
If an athlete missed more than . of school the day of practice or a game they may 
not attend practice or the game that evening. 
*Please note: anything outside what is listed above is considered unexcused. 
(Ex. birthday parties, work, hair appointments, vacations , etc.) 
B. Unexcused Tardies 
. Two unexcused tardies count as one unexcused absence. 
C. Unexcused absence protocol: 
. You will sit out 1 game for 2 unexcused practices. 
. You will sit out 1 game for 3 unexcused practices. 
. You may be removed from the squad if you miss 3 unexcused 
practices. 
. If you miss one game, you will sit the next game. 
. If you miss 2 games (unexcused) you may be removed from the 
team. 
*We understand working is important but when in season, cheerleading should 
come first. By trying out for this team you are agreeing to make this a number 1 
priority. Work is not an excused absence. The only time missing, due to work, 
is considered excused is if the practice, game, or event is a ÒmakeupÓ and was not 
originally listed on the calendar.

6. APPEARANCE AND DRESS 
As a representative of the Belleville East Cheerleading squad you are expected to 
look your best on and off the court. When in uniform or cheer attire please keep 
in mind we want to present a classy, unified look. 
. No jewelry on while in uniform 
. No fingernail polish of any color during games/competitions. Nails must 
be cut short. 
. Keep uniforms in good condition, and repair if needed. 
. Socks need to be low cut and SOLID WHITE. 
. Bows and uniforms are the property of Belleville East. At the end of the 
season you will be charged for any damage done to uniforms or bows. 
. Hair will always be up in a high ponytail for games, with the bow 
facing forward unless otherwise specified. 
. Your NEW cheer shoes should only be worn to games. You are allowed 
to wear your new ones to 1 or 2 practice to break them in, other than 
that you must wear old cheer shoes at practices. This will ensure your 
shoes stay looking new. 
. No more altering uniforms without permission from the coach . 
. If you are giving the privilege of wearing your warm-up to school prior 
to games you will be expected to wear it correctly. Hair will be up, with 
bow in facing forward. Tennis shoes will be worn with the warm-up, no 
uggs or slides. You may layer up under the warmup but we ask the 
warm-up is the outer layer. Stud earrings are okay but no obnoxious 
jewelry will be worn. 
. *Change!* You will be required to purchase your camp clothes. You 
will be purchasing them through Artwear in Belleville. You will fill out 
an order form and turn it in either in person or via mail. You will pay for 
those clothes directly to Artwear. 
. *Change!* - Warm-ups to be purchased. Company and cost is TBA.

7. Money 
. We are very flexible and willing to work with you in whatever needs you 
may have. We understand how costly this sport can be and we try to keep 
the costs to minium where we can. 
. A payment plan is something we can workout if that is what suits you best. 
We try to provide a variety of fundraisers to help offset the costs. 
. Clarification- any additional money left in a girls personal account at the 
end of the season can not be refunded. If your cheerleader has a credit and 
does not try out again or does not make the team, the money stays in the 
Belleville East Cheer account. This is a district rule. If you cheerleader has 
a credit and they make the team next year, that money will roll over. 
. On the first game of November, if you have an exceeding balance and have 
not set up a payment plan nor made any payments, you will sit. 
Payment Breakdown: 
Your total for the season will be divided up into 4 payments. Each payment will 
be due every 6 weeks. The payments will begin in August. 
1st payment- Aug 20th 
2nd payment- October 1st 
3rd payment- November 12th 
4th payment- (moving past holidays) January 7th 
5th payment- February 18th 
*Please refer to your Expense sheet for totals.*

You are among a small group of students that are privileged to be members of a 
Belleville East sports team. By signing this contract you are making a 
COMMITMENT to your teammates and your coaches until the last game is 
over and your uniforms are turned in. 
I have read the rules and regulations, and agree to follow the cheer rules as set forth in this
